We all agree -- all -- that Rush should be in the FBO, and actual, Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame. So there's no danger in bringing up their WORST songs.
FBO Admin's vote is a surprising one, for many. 'FREE WILL.' Whilst Rush was on any available cassette deck in the mid '80s, I dragged my mom into the ins-and-outs of 'Permanent Waves' on a road trip across Oklahoma. Heading back to side one after a complete listen, she finally spoke up -- as Geddy wailed his screaming bits at the end of 'Free Will' -- 'OK, that's enough.' And she was right. I've never really listened to it again since.
I guess I prefer the 'softer side' of Geddy's vocal abilities.
Taking your opinions...

"Twilight Zone," "Countdown" (tie). It would be generous to call them novelty songs. A close third would be "Losing It," for its unironic use of "the bell tolls for thee."
Yes! And what makes that 'Countdown' more disastrous is that Rush finally gets some 'Top 40 buzz' with New World Man and, oh, go for a video about a space shuttle take-off, a couple years before the infamous crash. The bell tolls for us all.
People, people - War Paint has to be the worst Rush song. I could not get past that annoying outro "Boys and girls together - paint the mirror black." Argh.
On an up note, caught the boys last Saturday in Portland and they slayed. Posted a review on my Blog at http://isorski.blogspot.com/2007/07/concert-review-rush.html if you are interested!
Surprised there are no mentions of 'The Necromancer.' Applause goes out -- way out -- to Isorski's passionate review of Rush 2007. Fans, please check www.rush.com to hear the new single (sounds good) and get tour dates of Rush 2007.
Countdown, yes bad! Then War Paint. Don't give up good song writing to convey an idea. This was done by Rush here. But really, compared to Hootey, are there any really bad Rush tunes???....ok, maybe I Think I'm going Bald, could be way up there on the list....?
Virtuality, Dog Years, The Speed of Love, Neurotica, Color of Right, Face Up, Sweet Miracle, How It Is. Most of them are B-side forgettables from Roll the Bones and after.
